Me, bubbly?

First, a big tusen takk to everyone who wished me well on the blog's launch. I laughed, though, when Bill St. Clair wrote that he's looking forward to more of my "bubbly perspective on liberty". Me, bubbly? I generally reserve that term for champagnes and cheerleaders.

I will admit to being fairly optmistic ... not short-term, however, because the liberty movement remains seriously fractured post-9/11, and the U.S. government seems hell-bent on rounding up all its citizens and watching, restricting, prodding, and stealing from them from cradle to grave. More and more, they steal one's time and money, but even worse, they're increasingly stealing one's dignity, one's capacity to make rational judgments, and one's ability to be responsible for oneself (and children, if applicable).

Well, maybe I wouldn't have used the word "bubbly" had I talked to you in person recently, and maybe not based only on recent writings, but I'll stick to my adjective as a composite of my experience of your essays. And I hope you're feeling Sunny again soon.

BTW, I saw yesterday for the first time the photo on your Guns page of you aiming an M1A/M14. I see smiley teeth. THAT must have been a sunny day.

Hi Bill! No slap on the tongue intended in my commentary -- you just chose a word I would never have used for myself, and it provided a good way to launch the subject I'd wanted to write on today.

That day of shooting was indeed a sunny day. A day of good shooting, in a relative free state (my beloved Wyoming), with good friends and loved family around me ... a day like that's hard to top. big grin

And no slap perceived.

I'll elucidate my use of "bubbly" a little. While he was still on the planet, I attended a number of seminars led by Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan. At the end of many of them, he led an "Allelujah" to the tune of Pachelbel's Cannon. The man had so much joy in him that it seemed he had to sing or he would burst. "Effervescent" is the word that best describes him to me. "Bubbly" isn't as joyful as "Effervescent", but it's close. Sunni's joix de vivre brings that word to my tongue.

Now that you've elucidated, I will agree with you that the "bubbly" moniker applies. "Effervescent" used to apply ... maybe it will again some day. (It does occasionally, still.)
