New Real ID Rebellion Site Now Functional

This is what I've been working away at over the weekend:

http://www.realidrebellion.com/

It's bare bones, but the skeleton is essentially complete, and we'll be building on it as we're able. Please update your bookmarks, and links (all posts have been moved over to the new site), and if you've a mind, snag a button proclaiming that you're a Rebel to post on your site. Please help spread the word about our new digs, too!

Focusing on that site means that I'm behind schedule on Sunni's Salon ... and this week is filling with commitments that will take me away from my machine more than usual. So, I'm sorry to say that the next installment of pro-freedom, individualist culture will almost certainly come after the fifteenth. More on that as Tom and I size up the week ahead.

Other things I did this weekend:
- I got my glass grinder and in just one session with it, got about a third of the pieces for the project I'm working on ground. A messy but very handy tool it is! I was all sparkly with glass bits when I was finished (so much for their so-called splash guard ...).
- I believe I have finally perfected a gluten-free Swedish meatballs recipe. Substituting ingredients had been no problem; the challenge was the sequence of combining them. Now that I've got that down -- as well as a very tasty recipe for wheat-free Italian meatballs -- look for Meatball Madness to be added to the Pood section next.
- Made chocolate sorbet for last night's dessert. A lovely, light alternative to chocolate ice cream, it also packs much more of a chocolate wallop (the dairy products in ice cream mute the chocolate flavor). Easy to do, and I'm happy to share that recipe if anyone's interested.
- Learned that blackberries are already coming into season here. An expedition to go berrying next weekend is already in the planning stages, and seems likely to happen, since people are already talking about blackberry jam, blackberry cheesecake, blackberry ice cream, etc. (We discovered a great little spot a couple years back that isn't on private property, and which, astonishingly, no one seems to visit. Well worth the drive to take advantage of the large, plump berries and bountiful quantities of 'em.)
- Managed not to melt in the unseasonably high heat we've been having. Hope I can continue that ...
- Taught my daughter the basics of jumping rope. Fun for both of us!
- Got more ideas, and some more planning underway, for earning money without becoming a wage slave again. That, and other, more personal developments, contributed significantly to brightening my mood.

'Nuff of that -- off to the Salon stopes with me.

New site looks nice. I changed my 'button' to reflect the new URL.

I've got one of those buttons on my blog now and with updated URLs. It goes well with my decor.

That chocolate sorbet sounds good! I've had some non-dairy chocolate soy cream before that was amazing, mainly because it had a much stronger chocolate flavor. With that in mind, I can understand what you're saying about dairy negating the chocolate flavor.

Have fun picking blackberries! Here at my parents' place, there are plenty of wild raspberry plants that are in full production mode right now. There are enough raspberries to easily fill up an entire freezer!

Freeman, I can make you a button that will match your background, if you'd prefer ... I believe (I read about it somewhere once, but my memory is failing me) that it's the fat in dairy that mutes chocolate's impact. As soon as I'm done with this month's Salon, I'll write up the chocolate sorbet recipe for you. And it's too bad we aren't close enough to swap some berries. smile I love raspberries, but don't know of a good spot for harvesting them.

I updated the left-column icon link in my weblog, and put a notice in today's edition.

Sunni, Do you grind your own Rice flour? With your Gluten Free recipes, Have you ever used spelt instead of rice flour.

I probably could, if I had the right attachment for my lovely KitchenAid mixer, but no, I don't grind my own rice flour. And I've not tried spelt. Is there a good reason to do so?

Spelt is a form of wheat, but more acceptable to gluten-sensitive GI systems.
