Disorientation

We're continuing to physically settle in. Earlier today our satlink was set up, and after a trip to purchase a wireless card and some interesting machinations involving crawling through fiberglass on Lobo's part, my computer is now back online. My room is mostly in order (read: a state of disorder that isn't completely unfathomable), the kitchen is workable ... so why am I still feeling so disoriented?

I think my disorientation is mostly psychological. I didn't think I'd be in this part of the world without Sweetie, and now that I am it just doesn't feel right. I still am not acclimated to the time change, either, so my sleep is disrupted every night. The kitchen is bigger, but there are fewer items in it, so when I go to find that second chef's knife or a certain spice, it isn't there ...

Sigh ...

Maybe the trip to Phoenix will help shake me out of this funk. Looking at the current schedule for the Freedom Summit, it's looking really good -- and checking the weather, I see it'll be warm and sunny. I just got an email from Vin Suprynowicz that says, in part:

Vin will be speaking to libertarians and freedom-lovers this Thursday evening, in the banquet room at Coco's Restaurant, 4514 E Cactus Road, in Phoenix, Arizona. The event is officially being called "The Black Arrow" party, and is open to everyone for a small admission of $10 at the door. It all starts at 6:30 pm, and includes food, refreshments, and a no-host cash bar, along with the chance to hobnob with Vin and all the greatest minds of the Phoenix freedom movement.

Sounds like a lot of fun for those who'll be in Phoenix tomorrow night. I'll be en route still, sadly -- but it's good news that he'll be in town.

Dunno if I'll be able to check in while on the road, but I'll try. If not, see ya Wednesday, most likely.

Have a great time at the Freedom Summit. Sorry I won't be there.
