Who'll be Next? -Because There WILL be More

As I've been working at various projects this afternoon, my mind keeps returning to two things: and the celebration of Bark's life scheduled for tomorrow. It just dawned on me that it was possible that Bark could have gotten the "Peter McWilliams treatment" too -- by that I mean had his medical marijuana forcibly taken away and left to die without it. It appears Steve Kubby is being prepped for that miserable fate. It's possible that Bark avoided it because he wasn't a terribly vocal marijuana activist (not so far as I know, anyway), and because he lived a quiet life in a rural setting.

For all I know Peter McWilliams wasn't the first medical marijuana activist to have been killed by the drug warriors in this way -- but clearly the outrage over his treatment at their hands wasn't nearly enough to scare them off. There may have been dozens or more individuals who suffered similar fates after my friend Peter died, who didn't command national attention the way he did. Now the anti-medical-marijuana hysterics are ready, it would seem, to create another martyr.

Maybe the drug warriors don't think people are paying attention. Maybe they have short memories, like many other Amerikans do, and they've forgotten too. But I will never forget, and I will never forgive.

As I sit here and think about Bark, I'm glad he's beyond his suffering -- and I'm glad those filthy fucking feds weren't able to add to it before he died.

But who'll be next after Kubby? Because make no mistake, there will be another. And another, and another, until liberty-loving individuals obliterate this particularly loathesome tactic in the war on some drugs.

So who is going to be next?
Maybe my friend Sheila, who is in the last stages of Muscular Dystrophy? The federal government is playing God with us, except that God is just and not cruel to His weakest ones.

I don't think God (if he exists)has any "feelings" towards people. Mercy is supposed to be shown at the end of time, right? Before then we've got some rules, free will, and the choice is ours whether we muck it up or not for the future reckoning. That is at least my understanding, and I was raised Catholic.
By the way, if God is just and not cruel to His weakest ones, please tell me what are all those children doing in the terminal wards of hospitals and hospices?

James, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I think that you're right in the main: the fedgov is cruel, even when it claims to be helping, because its entire existence is built on power and theft.
