Wanting to Live Forever

I don't know as I can rightly say that I do want to live forever ... I've been thinking about mortality, particularly my own, a lot for some time now and the hamster wheel in my head seems to just spin and spin on the subject without producing much more than heat. I don't think that's why the song of this name that Warren Bluhm wrote, and shared with me a few months back, has refused to leave my brain; but I'm not ready to talk about that stuff yet.

When he began his wackily wonderful Uncle Warren's Attic podcasts, I urged him to share that song. He demured, saying he wanted to improve it a bit and re-record it ... which I grokked; his voice has changed some over the years and the recording he gave me relies on a cheesy electronic gizmo for one of the nicer melodic hooks of the piece. I am pleased to report that Uncle Warren's Attic #5 contains both versions of Wanting to Live Forever for your listening pleasure. And yes, much, much more to tickle your ears!

Warren seems to be hitting his stride with this one—he sounds more confident, relaxed ... he even pops open a brew and does a brief, impromptu taste test while settling in! If you've not popped over to Uncle Warren's Attic yet, I encourage you to do so (but be warned, he opens #5 with an old Mets song). I have a hard time seeing how someone couldn't find something to light his or her face with a smile just among the treasures already available in these five podcasts. Until we can take a twirl on the polka floor together, Warren, I'll content myself with raising my glass to yours with a hearty Skål! and Very well done.

Thanks for the update on Uncle Warren. Been checking his blog every few days for another attic episode but saw it here first. Been enjoying the podcasts immensely.
