Sunni and the Conspirators

Feeding My Spirit

My weekend, as previously noted, was busier than usual—I'd made plans to meet up with some freedom-minded folk I'd known online for a time, but had never met in person. Saturday was devoted to cooking for the outing—lasagna, cheesecake with blackberry sauce, and enough caramels for each of them to get a mixed pound—and Sunday to the gathering. Although we'd been talking about getting together in some capacity for a while, I'd been reluctant for various reasons, most notably the almost two-hour drive between their necks o' the woods and mine. The time, and the cost in gas, seemed prohibitive investments into just getting together with people who seemed nice enough online, but who could turn out rather differently in person.

What a silly snake I can be!

The snolfs and I had a grand time. While the other children present were young adults, and therefore not really good playmate candidates for the snolfs, they happily played and mostly entertained themselves, and were for the most part well-behaved. All the food was excellent.

Even better was the nourishment my somewhat sagging spirit received. I hadn't been looking for or expecting anything like that, but over the course of our wandering conversations I felt my perspective brightening. And when specific, positive feedback was offered, it suffused me with happiness and motivation. I've experienced, many times before, the deep value in face-to-face time with other pro-freedom individuals, but with my increasing isolation over the past few years, those memories had mostly faded. So, as wonderful as it is to have online friends like Tom, Kirsten, LewLew, Gospazha, Ian, B.W., Neo Wayland, Jim, Warren, the Happy Curmudgeon, and many others including the conspirators here and others I'm unable to point to for various reasons, it's even better to get together with some tolerant, rights-respecting individuals every now and again. It might be just the tonic your spirit could use, too.

Thank you so much, friends! I fear I did rather too much talking and not enough listening, but I hope you enjoyed our time together as much as the snolfs and I did.

Feel free to delete 2 of the above - my browser's been acting up. Either that or I have an itchy "send it up" finger.

I wish you could've been there too, H.C. Maybe someday soon ...

[Dunno that the glitch is necessarily your browser or finger; sometimes after I post a comment it shows, and other times it doesn't unless I refresh the page.]
