The Drug Warrior Photograph Saga Continues ...
December 15, 2006
7:13 a.m., MT

In the wee hours of this morning, William's Dad posted a link to an exchange between Radley Balko and Justin Cook, the photographer of the Kindly Drug Warrior, over at Hit and Run. It's an interesting exchange, and commenters there are doing a decent job of covering the bases. What I found most interesting is that Mr. Cook calls the photograph an ironic sliver of compassion and humanity—yet he seems to be pulling that image from the web wherever he can.

So far, he's missed this place, which is where I found these two images:

I have no way of knowing what transpired between these two photographs; and I strongly suspect that had the photographer not been there, the Kindly Drug Warriors might not have been so kindly. Still, they beg the question: is this where you want American society to be heading?

On Friday, December 15th, at approximately 7:12 p.m. Mountain time, jeffrey smith said:

I notice in the left picture that the gun is pointed directly at the boy's head (or at least, at his neck).

I then remember the many people who protested when they saw the photograph of a federal marshal pointing his weapon directly at San Elian and the Holy Fisherman.

I then wonder if these people will make any similar protest.

But I'm not holding my breath.
