I continue to seek answers to questions that are mostly unanswerable in my current context ... yet my wanderings on the web—sometimes directed by others, mostly haphazard jumpings of my own—occasionally offer droplets of insight.
Yesterday evening I came across an excerpt of one of James Burke’s episodes from The Day the Universe Changed. I recall seeing that on PBS when it came out, and being mightily impressed. Rediscovering him now (we’ve just finished watching one of his previous series, Connections), I am even more awed. This vid is densely packed with ideas that speak to me—some of which will certainly not speak to some of you. My reaction to my first viewing of this closing bit of the series last night was, “Burke was spot on some 20 years ago! We are living in this opportunity—and yet I fear we’re squandering it.” By “we” I meant The Family—we freedom-loving individuals. Intolerance and fear keep us from creating what’s possible ... what Burke mentions in his closing words here.
So, what do you say?
