I am unclear how you arrive at "Intolerance and fear keep us from creating what’s possible" from Burke's closing words. Or how we are squandering the opportunities of the present day.

Of course there are many who operate on the basis of "hatred of the heretic." This is true of any movement and it is especially true of political ones, because they operate in a winner-take-all environment. But those of us who simply seek to live free are not doing that.

Just to state one example: I really do not hate those who chose Barr as the LP's presidential candidate. I think they are mistaken, but who knows, maybe they will accomplish something positive. They are using their resources and are entitled to do what they want with them.

I do not fully agree with Burke and the "any view is correct" philosophy. This can lead to a "Do what you will shall be the whole of the law" point of view. Hardly "balanced anarchy".

But I suspect I have missed the point you are trying to communicate.
