Hi all! If you’re reading this it means that our tech guru has worked his magic and our new site, running Drupal is live. You should notice some small differences in appearance, but most of the changes are behind the scenes. I imagine there’ll be a few bumps and snags as everything gets moved over, so please bear with us. If you spot one, please let me know so we can get it fixed ASAP.

Meantime, it’s good to be able to get the conversation going again, so please, sign up so that you can contribute your thoughts!

Awesome!

Hey.. am I the first??

I wanted to make sure I had the username I'm using before anyone else stole it. :P

Looks good, Sunni.

It looks lovely!

It looks lovely! Very familiar but different enough to alert the eye to the fact that something new and exciting is going on. It's nice to be able to interact again!

Welcome Back!

Hurrah! at last we have the comments back. Going to have to get used to the new look, (I like it). Glad to see everything working and looking nice!

One little bug...

and I'm no sure how to fix it. I can't seem to get the new version to want to work with Avantgo for my Palm. Something about the new RSS isn't liked by Avantgo....hmmm...

This feed is RSS 1.0.

This feed is RSS 1.0. Haven't seen anything for 2.0 but there is an ATOM feed if you think that would help?

I definitely like the

I definitely like the updated look!

Cool Beans

Nice to see the updated site. Good to have you back.

A Verklempt Snake ...

... says a heartfelt thanks to each of you! I appreciate the feedback on appearance and bugs, but mostly, it’s good to know many of you missed being able to contribute here. The place really wasn’t the same without comments – it felt much too one-way for my comfort. I expect the tone will improve quite a bit now.

Yippee!!!

The new digs are nice. Can I sit down and put my feet up for a bit?

Congratulations.

Of course; you’re always

Of course; you’re always welcome. Please, rest, relax, and enjoy ...

Cool!

Glad to see that you have Drupal up and running. How do you like it? My only CMS experience is with Mambo and its successor, Joomla. Sometime I want to set up my own site again, and am thinking about what system I want to use. How easy is Drupal to set up and administer?

Errrr, ummmm .... I

Errrr, ummmm ....

I wouldn’t know the first thing about running Drupal; I know nothing about databases and PHP. (I barely knew anything about cgi either, but since Greymatter’s structure didn’t require familiarity with it – just html – I was okay with it.) That said, we evaluated several CMS possibilities (all open source, and all free), and while Drupal didn’t do some of the things I like, it did enough of them to be a clear winner. It was important to us not to bloat the install with a lot of addons that can make upgrades challenging; and I believe that our tech guru was able to mod a few things to make me happy without mucking with the core install. All the basic appearance parameters are in the CSS, so that I can fairly easily tweak those if I want, too, without melting down the site.

The only drawback is that image handling seems to be awkward. We’re still looking into a fix for that.

For anyone who might be interested in some tech help with Drupal or software in general, I highly recommend the individual who worked with me. He’s fast, easy to work with, and very good. If you’d like to talk with him about your project, I’d be happy to make introductions.
