Yet another example of the perils of blogging while sleep-impaired ... my “evening with four gentlemen” wasn’t what some of you might be thinking based on what I said! Here’s a little something to provide a clearer mental picture:
Err ... Clarifying That Last Post

Well, I did!
That said, my commentary was a play on an inside joke with someone who may not ever see that post ... kinda silly to’ve done that, in retrospect—but again, I plead extreme fatigue.
Envy
Wow, lucky you. I get such a charge from seeing the boys and hanging with so many others that love their music.
(I'm glad you clarified your last post, thought I'd wandering into the wrong blog :)
What a great way to wrap up
What a great way to wrap up a summer!
Ass Healing
It was possibly the "ass healing" comment that had some folks wondering. With the ideas presented in the first part of the post, some may have projected that your ass needed healing from something other than what really caused the need for healing :).
Projections and all that ;)
Hope you had a great night! :)

Okay, here’s the story
I think Lobo has mentioned his version of this before, so it isn’t as if I’m spilling anything private here. We had agreed to get together for a concert on the Test for Echo tour, and I saw an earlier show (third one of the entire tour, actually). Being quite tired by the time I got home, I emailed him a brief note with a subject line that read something like “My ass is black and blue”. He didn’t make the connection, and was concerned that I’d hurt myself.
Yes, it was a great night, Ian! Hope you get your blog problems worked out soon; I miss you!
W.D., despite this place having a “TMI” category, at least for my part you can rest assured that I will never provide that much information. Did they tour close to you this time around?
Kirsten, I cannot argue with you one bit on that.
Rush Thoughts
I've seen a black and blue ass once. But that might be in the TMI category too. I'll leave it up to whatever anyone wishes to project on that ;).
I was looking at the Rush website earlier - and I was quite impressed with something: Although the past couple of years, some "big deals" have been made (and rightfully so) of "comeback" tours of some great bands (the balance of Roger Daltrey and Pete coming to mind for The Who), Rush really hasn't made a "comeback."
They may have not toured or put out the same numbers of albums as they did - but they've been pretty regular compared to the "comeback" types with album releases and even tours. That's quite an amazing feat really - for a band that found greatness (if fan numbers are one sign of greatness) in the 70's and 80's - that they've been one of the consistent "stay together" bands and have continued to produce with short gaps in between relative to most.
Re my blog: It is likely I'll get back to it - but not for at least a few weeks. I will say though that as much as there are times in the past couple of weeks where I've missed blogging, I've also found that the things I have been spending time on in lieu of have been really rewarding too! But then, my so called ADD personality maybe works best in phases with some subjects or activities. Heh.

What a coinky-dink!
While you were off seeing those power trio guys, we were at the Fair taking Shorty to his first concert:

I will never think of Donny Osmond in the same way again.
Cool! Did Shorty and his older brother enjoy the show?
I adore the original vid for that song ... and as my subject gives away, it’s because Donny Osmond totally steals it. I didn’t care much for him back in his musical heyday, but my perspective of him has changed enormously since seeing that vid (and watching the “making of” one that is also somewhere on YouTube).
Definitely.
Cool! Did Shorty and his older brother enjoy the show?
Shorty has been going around ever since telling everyone "Weird Al is very very Loud!"--but when asked if he'd like to see Al again, he says yes. This was No. 1 son's 4th Al concert. (We are not fans or anything
)

Doesn't he seem like he's just absolutely enjoying himself? We cracked up when his giant face came popping up on the middle screen during the live number.
Al has changed his show quite a bit this tour. Yoda was moved out of the final encore spot for the first time since I first saw him in the 80s.
Some other notable moments... He added a new verse to an old song* in his medley.
I don't know if you've ever been to an Al concert, but in between some of the songs they play a bunch of clips, from shows that have referenced him, and from his fake interviews on Al TV, while the band members are scurrying around backstage doing costume changes. So, at one point they showed the clip from this fake interview*
... and then there was the first encore: "...the song you've all been waiting for!"*. I purposely avoid knowing anything about the shows before I go so it really hit my funny bone.
And the new final encore*, which I always thought would be good live, was.

What about Judy?
Weird Al's "girlfriend" (the one he gives a present of a surge suppressor) in "White and Nerdy" has a recognizable name too. I doubt many people recognized her as Judy Tenuta the outrageously funny stand-up comedienne and one of my favorites from the past.
Not much of Judy has made it to You Tube yet, but they have this segment which contains some good stuff --
You Tube has more of Judy than they did last time I looked, but I'd like to see even more of her old routines up there.
It could happen....
Judy ... and Seth too!
Showing my age right along with you, my friend, but I remember Judy well. I also got a big kick out of Seth Green doing those outrageous gestures showing off the action figures—for those who don’t recognize that name, he was Oz in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Seth ? You mean Mr. Robot Chicken ?
For people still reading this "sub-thread," which now seems to concern comedy, Seth Green in a "Weird Al" context, especially with action figures, brings to mind this "Robot Chicken-ish" piece which also appears on the "Straight Outta Lynwood" collection.
There's much more Robot Chicken on You Tube but this non-embeddable link tells more about it. Much more could also be said about Seth Green. For example, my son watches Family Guy quite often.
Top Ten Star Wars Robot Chicken
Number ten has a longer piece of the George Lucas segment than what was shown in the CBS interview of Seth Green.

ummm...
I thought maybe you'd had a VERY good time! ;-)
