My Heart is Frozen

I really don’t have much to say beyond that. I have tried, numerous times over the past two days, to try to write something about the situation in Georgia and my thoughts and feelings in response to it. But I am in no way an expert on the geopolitical situation there, and my overarching concern is for the wonderful people we met while there. Doubtless some of them have been involved in the protests, as most made their dislike of Saakashvili clear. I have not seen any familiar faces in the numerous photographs I’ve studied ... so far.

I wish I could help them somehow. But I don’t know that I can. So I watch and hope, with my heart frozen to my ribs, and try to tend to the things I can do here.

I'm really sorry to read

I'm really sorry to read this, Sunni. I wish I had something helpful to suggest. Being unable to do anything to help is an awful feeling.

Sometimes helping isn’t possible...

Thanks, Kirsten. I may yet be able to do something ... we’ll see.

Everything counts

Sunni, everything that you and the conspirators do here (and on other websites) makes a difference. People read, they think, and they are influenced in various ways. To me, that's a pretty damn positive contribution to the world we find ourselves in.

I take my hat off to all the 'conspirators', here and throughout the vast internet. I'm also very thankful that we have this medium to share our thoughts and feelings (for now, anyway).

I know, but ...

Thanks, Shaun; I do know that, even though I tend to overlook that contribution. It just doesn’t feel like much ... and in this particular instance, I don’t think it’s explicitly helpful to my Georgian friends.
