Our reality
Indeed! And how often do we prevent ourselves from finding that happiness because we've been conditioned by our own background? I know what a struggle it was for me to let go of false expectations in some ways, in spite of an upbringing that was not all that "traditional."
Our thoughts, words and deeds create our reality. The longer I live and the more I read, the more convinced of this I become.
