What This Place Needs is More ...

If you’re thinking “cowbell”, guess again.

Things have been too serious around here lately. I have some important (to me, anyway) stuff on my mind, but can’t really string the thoughts together well enough to share ’em at this point. So maybe the new year musings will emerge tomorrow ... but for now, some music!

Way back when Nintendo was new, I got seriously hooked on Super Mario. Probably for as long as I’ve known the name of the instrument, I have adored the sound of the bassoon. And now you know what’s coming:

I can’t help but laugh every time I play this. (I laugh when I hear Minibosses do Super Mario Bros. 2, too.) Happy New Year!

Ack!

I used to fix Nintendo game units and their cartridges. I got so sick of these songs. They used to run through my head...even in my sleep. The bassoons are cool, though.

Sorry!

For a while I played so much that I’d hear the songs in my sleep, too ... but those days are long in the past. I think I wouldn’t like this so much if it were a different instrument playing. I just really like the unique sound of the bassoon.

I enjoyed the video

I'm not a video game player, so I didn't pick out the theme music though. I liked how the players complimented each other and their playing fitted so well together.

This is what's been going through my mind lately: Don't stop me now by Queen

I'm burnin' through the sky yeah
Two hundred degrees
That's why they call me Mister Fahrenheit
I'm trav'ling at the speed of light

Zander gave me a copy of the Shaun of the Dead soundtrack.

Unfamiliar

I don’t think I know that Queen song; and I have heard of that movie, but that’s it. I have an aversion to horror flicks, so anything that sounds like it might be one gets filtered.
