Polka means "Polish girl" and the dance too

Polka actually means "female Pole" - the masculine is "Polak." The dance Polka, is Czech, but also means "Polish girl." Evidently Czechs like to dance with Polish girls, a sentiment I throughly understand.

I might add that she's slim, lovely, with those incredible Polish-blue eyes, a nice big smile and a wicked sense of humor.

So I learned ... I chose not to say so in her profile so that curious readers could have some fun learning it for themselves.

Polka, there’s no reason to feel intimidated that I can see ... just lead off with your recipe for bigos and you’ll have us eating delectable Polish food and tossing a few Polish phrases around in no time! :-D (Which reminds me: I was wrong on most of the crew here not liking sauerkraut—dunno where I got that erroneous idea. So now there’s even more temptation to buy some Polish sausages and make the dish.)
