Funny how the eyes play tricks...
I read NonEntity's signature [-NonE] as the word, "none," which reinforced his parenthetical. ;)
Either that or...
Either that or it is a commentary on the value of anything he might say. Take it as you will. (I try and take myself a lot less seriously than I used to, but I rarely succeed.)

No excuse at all
I have at least two of those guides already in "favorites." (Yes, I will look at yours...) But since I don't know what much of it means to start with, it's largely useless. There seems to be a dozen or more different forms of this stuff, so it's terribly confusing. [sigh]
I do code a lot of things at my own website when I have to, but I have software to do most of it. I'm not ashamed to use a shovel instead of my fingernails to dig... so why shouldn't I use a tool to write code?
No tools? Not much code from this old lady. LOL
Jeff isn't cutting you any slack, Mama!
On Lew's site, Jeffrey Tucker has written an article, Learn to Link or DIE! which I (being the devil incarnate that I am) just had to point out to you, Mama. :-)

(No HTMLs were harmed in the making of this post.)
You are missing something
It is about choices. I actually read and can use a lot of the code. I simply choose to use tools to write it for me, that's all. I'll buy more tools as needed. sigh.
No, I get it. ;-)
I totally understand and I actually have sympathy with your position. It's just that the article was too good, especially the title. My little devilish brain could not resist poking and prodding and stirring up a bit of trouble. What the hell is life for anyway, if you can't have a bit of fun? ;-)
Do as you wish. I get it, I really do.
(I _HATE_ it when others tell me what I _SHOULD_ do. Just hate it.)
