Just when you thought it was safe to go in the water again...
This article at Mercola is worth some consideration.
The bottom line is that if a processed food label includes “vegetable oil” as an ingredient, you can be absolutely sure you’re about to consume either interesterified fats, or trans fats.
And on another front, John McDougall has an article at Lew's Place which is of interest. The information I get from McDougall seems to be in contradiction to that I've found at Weston Price Foundation's site, and I'm not sure what to make of all of this. But for those who are seriously interested in healthy nutrition, I suggest that both of these places seem to have messages worthy of serious investigation.

Thanks.
Hope you don’t mind that I tidied up your post a bit, NonE ... and I’m off to check out the articles.
Sure 'nuf
I guess I wasn't paying enuf attention. I don't know what you tidied up, but it sure looks fine now.
I must say that I followed the McDougal diet for a few years and was in the best shape of my life during that time. I was also doing between 45 minutes and an hour each day on my NordicTrak machine, so I can't put it all up to McDougal. As I recall, I had also just finished my complete series of "Rolfing" treatments, which had a profoundly beneficial effect on me.
Which all comes back around to the idea that there is no way to view life in a "cause and effect" manner in that it is all simply a process, and one thing cannot be severed from another realistically without destroying the context, and hence rendering your investigation invalid. (Just threw that in there to stimulate Jorge to rant at me some more... ;-)

Contradictions and confoundings
After skimming the LRC essay, I jumped to the full article. Yes, there seem to be contradictions. And confoundings. But I’ve no time to get into them just now: the sun has come out, I’ve tasks to see to, and my dear snolfs have been promised a cookie-baking session (oh, the horror!). So off to them I slither.
Diet
Thanks for the tip to look at the original webpage for McDougall...will do.

McDougall versus Price
this has been a major dilemma for us over the years. after more than 30 years of vegetarianism my wife got enamored by Weston Price, decided she maybe had it wrong, and we made some changes. She had been in spectacular physical condition. Less than two years later she developed a brain tumor and died. (49 years together) I have backed away from those changes.
the one thing that is clear to me is that they cannot both be correct
