I had been slowly working at cleaning and organizing my desk area [yes, again!] ... but with my computer out of commission I have more time offline than I’m accustomed to. So, over the weekend I started to get serious about organizing my mess—and in the process, rediscovered gold: a disc of music Warren Bluhm gave the snolfs and me some years back, titled The Will to Fly.
I’d just been thinking about the disc recently—for a while my car’s CD player had eaten it and I was wondering if I’d ever gotten it back. Apparently I did (and only a little worse for wear), so I popped it in to the snolf machine, and enjoyed this nice collection of Warren’s songs. When Wanting to Live Forever started, so did the tears ... it’s still a powerful and deeply moving song for me. And so, despite not being up to date on his Attic podcasts, I just wanted to shout out to my friend and say thanks once again ... someone is listening to you, Warren—and enjoying it. Might you consider making that song available to others?
Also, while I’m rambling about beautiful things this morning, I need to mention the beautiful postcards I received a few days back from A. Subset at Mailable Art. It’s a straightforward deal: send M. Subset a bit o’ cash, and you will receive some postcards featuring gorgeous photographs. Well, I think I got much more than my money’s worth. One of the photos I chose is Up In Craggy Wash, and it is spectacular. I also chose a few black and white, infrared shots, which are stunning in a very different way.
These are signed, and truly are works of art, so I’m a little reluctant to use them; but I plan on ordering more. Aside from my Australian friend, would anyone else like to receive a beautiful postcard from me? (Or even better, buy a few from Mailable Art yourself—I don’t think you’ll regret it.)
It is a deep goodness that I have a wealth of beauty in my world. Thanks, Warren, A. Subset, and all you others who contribute to it.
Warren, Someone IS Listening To You ...

I blush, but thank you
At least for the moment, the only way to get "Wanting to Live Forever" is to dig through the archives and pull out Uncle Warren's Attic #5, where I played the original recording and an interminable re-recording while telling the story of how I wrote it. But I could probably find an easier way to share it. Thanks for the kind words, that's pretty much the most personal song I've ever written so I appreciate it being appreciated.
I haven't been keeping up with the Attic lately, either, so you're fine on that count.
Coincidentally, since an up-close and personal encounter last month with the legendary Barry McGuire, I've had my richest and most prolific spurt of songwriting in more than 20 years. I expect to start sharing the new stuff soon!
What wonderful news!
I thought you’d shared at least part of it in an UWA, but my memory isn’t what it used to be. Would you consider adding it to your list of originals in your right sidebar?
That’s great news. Please mark me down for a CD once you start offering them. :)
UWA
I just listened to a few of the latest UWA podcasts in an all-day drive in a moving truck. It was the first time I really listened to it beyond the Imaginary Bomb readings. I have a lot of catch-up to do, but I would still enjoy new stuff there as well.

If I may be so bold ...
I just posted the whole album The Will To Fly for anyone's listening pleasure, with (forgive me) an opportunity to contribute FRNs to the furtherment of my musical career. And here is a direct link to Wanting To Live Forever.
Thanks, Sunni, for the kind words that nudged me to do something I should have done years ago.
Another “hardly”
No need to forgive you when you’ve simply acted on a suggestion. And ... I thought I’d reviewed your album, but all I found is this web site review, which mentions your original music but hardly does justice to them. For any curious folk, here are the songs the snolfs and I would likely agree are best:
Warren, as soon as I have access to my machine’s hard drive (and some FRNs) I’ll be sending a package your way. Thank you very much for making your music available!
