A very special friend has spent the day installing Linux on my new computer, as I have wanted for a long time. It's wonderful. Now just have to install the GPG so I can use my encryption keys, and I'm all set. Just so you all know... Mama finally did it! :)

Yeah!
Welcome to the world of FOSS. Puppy is a great system, I use it on several of my older computers.
Now we just need Sunni to get her machine back to life.
Puppy
This experience has already given new meaning to the word "bugs." LOL I'm so glad my friend will be here for a while to help me hunt them all down and kill them (hopefully). Just hope I have some hair left when we get done.
Congratulations!
The grass definitely is greener here, but one generally has to work a little harder to get it. It’s good your friend can help tweak the install for you. It gets easier with repetition. :) And don’t forget the online resources—they can be an invaluable help, just for learning as well as for fixing problems.
Bugs in Puppy?
Mama,
I've used Puppy Linux on several desktop boxes and laptops now, ranging mode from "boot from CD with no install" to "frugal" to "full," and in two different distros (4.1.2 and 4.2) ... and I have yet to experience any bugs. What's your machine doing? I have to suspect that the problems are hardware rather than OS-related. Drop me an email -- you have my address -- if I can be of any assistance.
Workin’ on it.
The problem seems to be either mobo or memory. Meantime, here’s a temporary GPG key I generated for interim use:
Thanks!
I'll get to your message today. Still going nuts, back and forth from one computer to the other, trying to get my PoL directory moved and set up so I can do the update from Puppy. Still don't know if the html editor here will do the job, but I have high hopes. Then I won't have to mess with the MS computer at all!
