Yesterday evening, I finally cracked. The pressure has been building since ... well, I don’t even remember when Wolfie and I first started talking about it.
But with the specter of Snakes in tactical corsets raised and pictures even mentioned, I knew I had to get serious. With devising my own recipe for fruity oaty bars, of course!
And I did, using a simple Scandinavian recipe as my starting point, and adding dried cranberries to get the “fruity” component. The result was pretty good, but a bit problematic when it came to removal from the pan. After leaving them sit out all night, the texture has changed quite a bit; and I’m not sure which I prefer. So, no recipe now, but yes recipe after I can do some more testing and come up with a final version.
Now if only they’ll work as advertised!

Your food is problematic?
Here's something amusing: go to Google, type in "my food is", and observe what's at the top of the list for completing the phrase.
Lo
:-P
(ice planet smiley)
Ha!
You just reminded me of another pood project I’ve yet to do. As the snolfs don’t remember the ice planet reference, they haven’t begun clamoring for them. Yet.
(I guess it’s a good thing you don’t have their eddresses. ;-)
"As Advertised"
Ah, yes, the ad ...
Fruity Oaty bars make a man out of a mouse
Fruity Oaty bars make you bust out of your blouse
Eat them all the time
Let them blow your mind
Fruity Oaty bars
Fruity Oaty bars
I await with bated breath.
Pood!
NOM!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait for your recipe!!!! :)
Wish I had the time for experimenting.
I think the base recipe will turn out to be very flexible, and I’ve thought of many possibilities I want to explore. But most of my baking supplies have already been packed away—which is probably just as well for my self-discipline.
And speaking of “packed away”, I need to get back to that. So much stuff ...
