Here’s Why I Have No Words on Obamacare

Sunni's picture

This has actually been a long time coming, but it took me a while to realize it. Anyway, if you want to know, pull back the stage curtain ...

When the inside frustration rises
And the meaning is not so clear
One thousand and one various stresses
Begin to influence all you do [Oh dear!]
Are they trying to tell you something?
You’re missing that internal peace
You’re simply not in the pink my dear
To be honest you haven’t got a clue

....

I’m going slightly Zen
I’m going slightly Zen
It finally happened
It finally happened [Oh yes]
It finally happened
I’m slightly Zen
Just very slightly Zen
And there you have it!

With sincere apologies to Queen, and especially the late, beloved Freddie Mercury.

Do your thing, woman...

It's all anybody can do.

Enjoy Peace wherever you find it.

I disagree

"We can ignore reality, but we cannot ignore the consequences of ignoring reality" - Ayn Rand. It took me many days to calm down after hearing the results of that vote but when I did I realized that this is the time when we need to face reality the most and educating ourselves enough to fight this infringement by whatever means (evasion of payment, convince doctors to walk off the job, adjust your lifestyle so that you pay virtually no taxes, as I have ["All they get are the scraps off my table" - To Paraphrase, John Galt]). All these recent crises have shown that the best way to fight a government dependent on tax revenue is to deprive them of revenue. Let them go bankrupt and destroy themselves, then take back the country, most economists say it is not far off with the spending they plan. A fight will only be needed though, if these state lawsuits fail, read the news (bricks in politicians windows, death threats, gas lines cut, etc.) the people are fed up and ready, all they need is a leader to guide their misgivings (A Washington though, not a Napoleon).

I am confused.

Who said anything about ignoring reality?

Who said anything about cooperating?

... the people are fed up and ready, all they need is a leader to guide their misgivings...

For how many years have pro–freedom individuals asserted this?

As always, the leader (or lack thereof) is within one.

Guess I misunderstood the

Guess I misunderstood the lyrics. Ignoring reality is what I got from the first comment with the reference to peace, adding in my apparent misunderstanding of the lyrics and there you the reason for my sermon. It was intended to inspire not offend. As for how many years? Probably since the last revolution. Let me back peddle and change leader to 'leader or leaders' (if you want dead on specifics) what form they take I have not specified (could be a book, could be anything) I just mentioned that they (or it) do not want sovereign power for themselves by saying "a Washington not a Napoleon". Now most individuals do not act on their own when large groups are involved in crowd psychology they call it Diffusion of Responsibility or sometimes Genovese Syndrome. It takes only one or two people to initiate some action and the crowd will follow, that is the purpose of what I call leaders. By their misgivings I was referring to acts such as the cutting of gas lines. Though I do like the symbolism of the rocks through windows. This man I think initiated the crowd to break windows: http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/2010/03/to-all-modern-sons-of-liberty-this-is.html

*Had to change the name a little cause it will not let me log on says I have not been approved or am blocked.

Clarifying a bit, then ...

My focus in rewriting Queen’s I’m Going Slightly Mad was on the chorus; but I thought redoing the first verse would provide some context. I kept that deliberately vague, however.

Ignoring reality is what I got from the first comment with the reference to peace ...

Ah, but I mention peace as well. And I just don’t see the math that yields peace ≅ ignoring reality.

It takes only one or two people to initiate some action and the crowd will follow ...

Not exactly. Some proportion of the crowd may follow, but their actions may or may not dovetail with the leader’s actions. More importantly, in this case it is vitally important to be clear on exactly who the crowd is.

Do you think the general American populace is angry and frustrated enough to rise up? I see little support for defining the crowd thusly. Yeah, many are angry, but few seem to have enough sustained attention or memory to realize that the same Congress who just shafted millions of people with this law also did so with the bankster bailouts initiated during the Bush regime. After all, there’s still Lost, Dancing with the Stars, and all those other “reality” shows to keep current on.

In addition, many among those who are angry probably benefit from the welfare state in some way, whether by holding a federal, state, or local government job or benefiting via some sort of handout. Very few there are willing to risk the uncertainty of cutting the aid and standing or sinking on their own ability (plus whatever private charity might be given).

I should make it clear that I am a discordian–Zen anarchist [Ooooh—finally a label that might stick!]. As such, I care more about individuals and their choices than I do about systems. That doesn’t mean I don’t want much of what you want, DB: what it likely means is that our visions for the freedom train’s mission are probably quite different. I am completely uninterested in trying to force anyone to live “my” way.

(Apologies on the nym/login issue. I was short on time yesterday morning when I approved your comment. All should work well now.)

Heh, thanks.

I haven’t heard that phrase (“do your thing”) in a very long time. I kinda miss it.

It finally happened

I love this! :-)

I keep putting off reading the details of what they just did to us, because I know it'll make me furious. Maybe that's actually the better course of action.

A test?

If you’re up to it, strolling through the provisions and exceptions and all the frippery would probably be a good test of the limits of your calm. I’ve read several blog posts and news articles with such details, and have emerged mostly unscathed. I consider that a sign of progress.

Tests suck

Oh, I know I'll have to read up on it eventually. Tomorrow, probably. I need the info for planning. But maybe it was better to wait and be in a non-rage state before doing it.

Test(y) Anxiety

I agree. I hope you have a successful mission.

As usual...

...I'll handle this garbage as I've handled all the garbage previously: I'll ignore it. Just as I ignore mandatory insurance, driving licensing laws, drug laws, tax laws, anti-gun laws, etc. ad nauseum.

The state can make no law I can't ignore! :)
