Arguably the Most Unique Cover Band Around

How did I not learn of these musicians sooner? Guess there is a downside to not browsing YouTube regularly.

First, a bit of back story. For as long as I can remember, I’ve enjoyed music; I especially enjoyed discovering and exploring older styles of music and musical instruments. Even though I’d never been a fan of choral music, I immediately adored Gregorian chant. I vividly recall a book—ancient even then—that my grandfather gave me on the subject, back before I became a teenager ... it’s probably the only book of its sort (music history/music theory) that I read all the way through. And I still miss that book.

So, the other day a dear friend casually tossed a question into our conversation: “Have you heard of Gregorian? You might want to check out a vid or two on YouTube.” I did—and wow. I chose one of my favorite songs from the ‘60s (that’s the direct link to the vid below):

Other samplings have been equally impressive ... although I must admit that I’ve not plumbed their YouTube offerings very deeply yet. I’m a little daunted by the thought of Gregorian AC/DC (but the Metallica is good).

Long time fan

I have enjoyed their music since at least the early 90's. I believe I have all of their albums. Great stuff. Enjoy.

Remembering that the wisdom of "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" applies at least double to people who seldom comment, please note that I said nothing whatsoever about the use of words in the title of this entry.

I do, however, promise to listen to some of the music this weekend. -SRS

Dubious wisdom, doubled?

You are welcome to say whatever you like on the subject at hand at any time; I’m always happy to see you about. Hope you like the music.

I'm not a nice person, so I'll say it.

Since proper use of language has been a recent topic...

Properly, it would be unique, uniquer, or uniquest. [evil grin]

None, really

Doesn't Bear have the bestest evil grin?

And Sunni, how could you question a respected authority such as Thumper's Mom?

Here’s how.

I’m more in the Anya (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) camp when it comes to bunnies. Well, not really, but it sounds better than having no good reason. And yes, Bear’s evil grin is one of the most splendiferous around.

Another good twist on the cover song

An anonymous commenter left the link to this video on another post where it was unrelated to the topic, so I’m putting it here:
